BIBLE HISTORY This study covers all the historical books of the Bible. Special attention is given to geography. The objective is to give the student a thorough knowledge of the facts of Bible History, their order and relation. A grasp of this subject furnishes one with a real foundation for all future Bible study. The Bible is the textbook. 4 Quarters)

HERMENEUTICS Another name for this subject is “Bible Interpretation”. Of course, a verse of Scripture means what it says, but exactly just what it says is not always easy to determine. The Bible was written thousands of miles from us, in languages strange to our ears. It was written by and among people whose everyday habits of living differed radically from ours – consequently we have difficulty in understanding. In this study, the student familiarizes himself with the rules and principles necessary for an accurate interpretation of the Scriptures. An outline is used as a guide for the study. The Bible is referred to constantly. (2 Quarters)

OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY All the poetical and prophetical books of the Old Testament are studied. Careful attention is given to the historical setting of each book as well as its relation to the full plan of God as revealed in the Scriptures. The content of each book is studied, especially the key passages. The Bible is the textbook. (2 Quarters)

BIBLE INTRODUCTION Our Bible was written several thousand years ago in Hebrew and Greek. We have no “original” autographs; most people can read only a translation from the original languages. How do we know that the Bible we have today is actually God’s Word? Have Protestants taken some books out of the Bible? Are there  “lost books”? Those and many other questions are answered in this most practical and interesting subject. The textbook is “A General Introduction to the Bible” by Geisler and Nix. (2 Quarters)

NEW TESTAMENT SURVEY All of the epistles and Revelation are studied, noting the historical context of each. The chief teachings of these books are discussed and all the key passages examined. The Bible is the textbook. (2 Quarters)

PERSONAL EVANGELISM The student is taught how to use the Bible to show unbelievers the way of salvation; how to meet their excuses and objections with Biblical answers. All of the New Testament instances of personal evangelism are carefully studied. The Bible method of personal evangelism is the one emphasized in the class. The Bible is the textbook. (1 Quarter)

CHILD PSYCHOLOGY This course is a “must” for every parent, every teacher, every worker with children. In a day when there are so many pagan psychology theories afloat, the Christian needs to ground himself in the principles of a Biblical child psychology. An outline is used as a guide. (1 Quarter)

ISAIAH An intensive study of Isaiah’s prophecy including the time during which he lived and wrote. Very special attention is given to the prophecies concerning Christ. The student also becomes familiar with a procedure for studying any one of the Old Testament prophetical books in detail. The Bible is the textbook. (2 Quarters)

CHRISTIAN WORK A course in methods of Christian work which will cover such material as censussing, visitation, sick visitation, the use of Christian literature, counseling new Christians, how to build a Sunday School class, lead a meeting, start a church. Every believer desirous of serving the Lord will want to take this subject. An outline is the basis of the study. (2 Quarters)

PEDAGOGY This subject deals with the rules and principles of good teaching. Every teacher in the church and every parent should have a mastery of this course. (1 Quarter)

ETHICS An immensely practical course in which the student learns what the Bible teaches about the problems of everyday life. Such questions as the following are answered: “How can I tell right from wrong?”, “Does right ever become wrong – or wrong ever become right?”, “How can I know God’s will?”. The Bible is the text. (1 Quarter)

JOHN An intensive study of the most important Gospel with particular attention given to the interpretation of Christ’s discourses. A mastery of this book will enrich one’s spiritual life beyond measure. The Gospel itself is the textbook. (2 Quarters)

PUBLIC SPEAKING This course is designed to help the student effectively express himself in positions of Christian teaching and leadership. Various kinds of speeches commonly used in Christian work are assigned. The student learns how to share in a panel and how to preside at a business meeting. This is a participation course where one learns by doing. (2 Quarters)

HYMNOLOGY A real study of church music dealing with its history and proper use. Attention is given to the difference between hymns and gospel songs, the elements of music, the characteristics of good church music. Famous hymn writers are studied. The student learns how to use hymns and gospel songs in a meeting, how to lead singing, how to improve church music, how to use the indexes of a hymnal. This is a course needed by every Christian worker. An outline is furnished. (1 Quarter)

CHRISTIAN HOME A thorough study of the Bible and its teaching relating to the family. Marriage is defined. The roles of the husband, the wife, and the children are discussed. Bible teachings about divorce and birth control are studied. Attention is given to family devotions, family finances, home atmosphere, and the relation of the family to the church, school, and community. An unusual course, it is one of the most practical offered in the Institute. The Bible is the source book. An outline is used as a study guide. (1 Quarter)

ROMANS An intensive study of this most important doctrinal book. The subject becomes a basis for further doctrinal studies. The Bible itself is the textbook. (2 Quarters)

MISSIONS A study of the New Testament to ascertain the method by which the Gospel message is to be promulgated, the purpose of the class is to bring the student to a real understanding of the Biblical principles of missionary work and the application of these principles in our modern world. The Scriptures are the text. (1 Quarter)

LEADERSHIP A study of the administration and organization of the Sunday School. This course is a necessity for every Christian worker. (1 Quarter)

BIBLE DOCTRINE I An exacting study of the doctrine of the Bible: revelation, inspiration, and illumination. The doctrine of God is discussed, including the Bible facts concerning His existence, names, attributes, and tripersonality. The doctrine of Christ: namely, His divine and human natures and the union of these in the incarnation; also, the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. His person and work are studied. The quarter concludes with the doctrine of the world: creation, preservation, and consummation. (2 Quarters)

BIBLE DOCTRINE II This quarter includes the doctrine of angels – their origin, nature, and work. Satan is also discussed as to his original condition and fall, and also his present work. The doctrine of man is pursued under the headings of origin, nature, original state, probation, and fall. Sin is discussed with respect to its origin, definition, and extent in the world. The study of salvation, its provision, and application concludes the work of the quarter. (2 Quarters)

BIBLE DOCTRINE III The doctrine of the church, which includes a study of its definition, membership, discipline, organization, government, officers, and ordinances, is carefully discussed. The doctrinal studies conclude with prophecy pertaining to death, the intermediate state, Second Coming, the resurrection, judgments, hell, and heaven. (2 Quarters)
