Highlights Patriotic Rally American Legion Post #111, will post the colors! The Evening Service
Sunday is the Lord's Day (Revelation 1:10), not just Sunday morning, but all day. It is not a day for errands, travel, and home repairs, but a day for worship, Bible reading, and doing good works, such as visiting the sick. The first evening service was on the day of Christ's resurrection (John 20:19-21). The early believers met again the next week on Sunday Evening (John 20:26-29). These Sunday evening meetings continued through the Apostolic Era (Acts 26-12). After the death of the apostles, believers continued meeting on Sunday evening. The heathen, Plimy, writing in the year 109 AD, describes the morning worship of the Christians and then adds, "afterwards at evening they assembled again". The ABC's of Salvation A - ACCEPT His free gift of salvation. “For whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13) B- BELIEVE that He died for your sins. “That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9) C - CONFESS that Jesus is now your Savior. “For with the heart man believes . . . And with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.” (Romans 10:10) This is the simple plan of salvation: accepting what Jesus did for you on the cross, believing that He died for YOUR sins, and confessing Him as Lord of YOUR life. What a glorious day when you put sin behind and follow Jesus in simple childlike faith. Article of Interest
