Life is loaded with problems. We work on them, stumble over them and live with many of them.
Most problems come when we depart from the Scriptures. It is the Bible that has the solution to our problems, because the Bible is the manual for living.
We have “race” problems because we have departed from God’s Word. The Scripture is plain that every human being who has lived, is living or will live is descended from Adam and Eve. The Scripture says, “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27). The New Testament also affirms this basic truth in Acts 17:26.
Therefore, according to the Bible there’s only one race — the human race.
Of course, there’s great diversity in the human race. There are many colors, different cultures, diverse languages and differing opinions. Human beings come in all shapes and sizes and with a vast array of differences. We may differ in appearance, politics, religion and abilities, but we all are of one human race. There are many ethnic groups with their wide ranging differences, but not many races. It is the Devil who divides people and it is Christ who unites people. A Biblical church does not have any ethnic barriers. Qualifications for membership are all spiritual.
In our sinfulness, we struggle to get along with one another. But, when an individual comes to faith in Christ, he discovers it is easier to get along with people who are different. In Christ, there is unity, for the Bible says, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28).
The so called race problem is a problem that springs out of human sinfulness. Solution to the problem is to find forgiveness and salvation in Jesus Christ and understanding that there are not different races, but only one race — the human race.
