The word “truth” has been kidnapped by idiots in a misguided effort to be “tolerant”. Truth has been trashed.
Someone says, “If that’s your truth and has meaning for you, that’s just fine. But my truth is …”
Try taking that warped thinking to the bank. Your bank statement says your balance is $2,822, but you tell the banker, “that is your truth, but my truth is my balance is $6,452”. See how it works at the bank.
Or take this fuzzy thinking to college. You say to the professor, “Your truth is that my grade was a ‘D’, but my truth is that I got a ‘B+’ on that exam”. See if it works!
Take this faulty thinking to the super-market. Your sales slip says your groceries total $68.22, but you tell the checkout girl, “but, my truth is that I owe you $28.56”. See if it works and if it does, please tell me what store.
Why not try this mushy thinking when you go to court? The judge says, “You’re guilty, your fine is $300”. So, you tell the judge, “I’m not guilty and I don’t owe anything!” See if he buys “your truth…my truth” scheme of things.
So, you went to the zoo and the sign on the cage says “Do not feed the tigers”. But, of course, that was the zookeeper’s truth and your truth is different. So you offer the hungry-looking tiger a snack, and now you are missing your right arm.
In the park, the sign on the bench said, “Wet Paint”. But, that was just somebody else’s truth. So, you sat down.
Remember, if “all truth is relative” then that statement is not absolute truth! Water boils at 212 degrees at sea level and fresh water freezes at 32 degrees. These facts don’t leave much wiggle room. Truth is what actually is.
We know what truth is. Jesus said, “Your (God’s) Word is truth” (John 17:17).
The Bible is not merely “my truth” leaving someone else room to have some other “truth”. The Bible is God’s absolute, eternal, unchanging truth. It is true whether you believe it or not. It is true whether you receive it or not. It is truth regardless of your opinion. Therefore, it is to your advantage to read it and benefit, not only temporally, but eternally.
